Sports Rehabilitation incorporates holistic, hands on therapy,
not just treating the injury but also identifying and correcting
the causative factors. This helps to maintain fitness levels
and strength throughout treatment.
We specialise and care for sports people at the highest
level, and a thorough functional rehabilitation program is
devised for each individual. This allows for optimal participation
in the individual's chosen activity during treatment. It
also ensures that, on return to full activity, the individual
is fully fit and able to meet all the necessary demands of
the activity required.
The assessment and treatment tools
include:
- Postural analysis
- Gait analysis
- Muscle testing
- Massage
- Exercise and specific stretches
- Tailored rehabilitation programmes
- Core stability exercises
What can it treat?
Sports injury rehabilitation involves a range of
client assessment and rehabilitation techniques in order to correctly
treat the sports injury.
By correctly identifying any muscle imbalances or postural
abnormalities we can provide treatment that will facilitate a safe
return to sport with full functionality.
We can assist individuals suffering with:
Soft tissue and sports injuries
- Injuries to muscles, tendons and ligaments
e.g. ankle sprains, hamstring strains, thigh injuries
and any type of muscular pain.
Joint problems
- Including injury, pain, swelling,
stiffness or instability in the shoulder, elbow,
wrist, hip, knee or ankle joints.
Back and neck problems
- Including facet joint problems,
disc problems, spondylolisthesis, ankylosing spondylitis,
pain or stiffness.
We aim to provide a sports-specific rehabilitation programme
tailored to each individual and their needs.
The initial consultation consits of a full physical assesment and medical history. This generally lasts between an hour and an hour and a half, including treatment. Subsequent sessions last around 45 minutes, depending on the complaint.
The treatment begins by warming up your
muscles through gentle manipulation. Then gradually the therapist will
work their way into the muscles, starting at the surface and gradually
going deeper.
A tailored exercise programme is used together with regular
massage treatment in the management of both acute and chronic injuries. |
